Cinematic interpretation, in two parts, of the much-discussed rise and fall of Willem Aantjes, a man who considered politics his vocation. The pressure this put on his marriage plays a prominent role. Aantjes was scheduled to become the first party chairman of the CDA, but in 1978 foundered on his alleged war record. According to this story, mixing fact and fiction, NATO and the air force hatched a plot against him. His own reticence obviously did not help either.
