Associative documentary illustrating the history of the Amsterdam Handelsblad complex through memorable events. The complex, a molty collection of buildings of different styles, has had many functions, inhabitants and users. Not just journalists and printers, but also aristocrats, labourers, merchants, Provos in the Sixties, squatters in the Eighties and yuppies. The Handelsblad complex is a mirror of its time. Its history corresponds with the cultural and historical shifts that have taken place in the last two centuries. The historical newspaper building, its habitants and the four streets that encircle it form a small-scale model of Dutch society.
