Poetic portrait of a Rumanian umbrella factory.
De paraplufabriek (The Umbrella Factory) is a poetic portrait of a Rumanian umbrella factory that hardly makes any umbrellas any more, but takes on anything it can get to survive. In the film, we follow the production of plastic trains and see the surroundings. The film shows an Eastern European factory that can barely keep going in the face of increasing competition. With an observing and almost static camera, the film records a fading reality.
