Episode from De nieuwe Lola's, a series of TV dramas made by rising talented filmmakers. This adaptation of Chekhov's play by Utrecht-based company `t Barre Land is situated in a provincial pub on a sultry and rainy night. 'No marriage without a stench, no pub without a drench', is the motto of a frequenter dropping in. Which turns out to be the truth. Watched by Tinus the bartender, a handful of regulars kills the time with booze and meaningless musing. Mutual tensions make themselves felt, but the cat is definitely put among the pigeons when Mr. Koesma (Jacob Derwig) arrives. He is surprised to find one of his fellow villagers in there. The gang is all ears when Koesma reveals some secrets about his acquaintance's tragic love life. After closing time, an unexpected visitor arrives.
