One of Holland's first political docudramas is a reconstruction of a political scandal in the sixties. Gerard Thoolen plays the role of Ben Mertens - a.k.a. Ben Corsten -, a PR officer of the Catholic Party, who assumed so much power within the party that he was called the spin doctor. Abused by politicians and businessmen alike, the press agent loses his job and gets addicted to drugs. In 1969, he is admitted to a clinic where eventually he dies from an overdose.
