Tragi-comic feature about the life of a flowery blue summer dress. The first owner is an elderly woman and wearing it excites her so much that she dies. Fate takes the lightweight item of clothing to a young housekeeper, a teenage girl and a woman on the seamy side. The blue dress affects the lives of those who wear it but also the men in their vicinity. An artist immortalises it in a painting, a railway ticket inspector becomes obsessed with feelings of lust and a tramp goes in search of true love with the last fragment around his neck.
