Episode from a documentary tryptich about the history of a few Dutch entrepreneurial families and their companies. In this episode, using archival footage and interviews, a historic portrait is presented of the families Van Beuningen and Fentener van Vlissingen, the founders of the Steenkolen Handelsverenigingen (SHV). The film also looks at D.G. van Beuningen's art collection, which was the basis for the collection of the Boymans-Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.
