Daan van der Elsken is used to being in front of a camera. First it was his father’s lens, the famous photographer and filmmaker Ed van der Elsken; this time, it’s his good friend Joris’ camera. Together, they try to get a grip on Daan’s life, by posthumously facing Daan’s father. Daan considers Ed the main cause of the manic depression that has been afflicting him for the past fifteen years. On the basis of photographs, footage and meetings with committed relatives and friends, Daan tries to fathom his father’s legacy.
