One year behind the scenes of TV entertainer Paul de Leeuw. An unvarnished glimpse of De Leeuw’s life and company at a crucial moment in his career.
Starting with the disappointing second show of Pau!l, the director follows Paul de Leeuw in an enervating year in which this voluble TV personality turns fifty and wants to rediscover his audience without depriving himself. It is a year of doubts, emotions and resurrection, with new TV plans, an autobiographical cookbook and recordings for a new CD. Behind the scenes, it is clear how the De Leeuw company operates, who the man behind the entertainer is and how loneliness and euphoria take turns. De Leeuw speaks candidly about his ambivalences, his quest and how the theatre and the TV studio lead to different relationships with the audience. On the interface of entertainment and social commitment, De Leeuw finds his own way.
