From his window, Pieters films a man who tries to put empty cans in his torn coat pockets. Time and again the cans end up on the pavement. A tragic and at the same time slapstick-like image. Pieters: 'To me, the can man is also a metaphor for man and his endeavours. We worry about things we consider important - whether they involve knowledge or matter - but what we pick up and put in our pockets immediately falls out again.'
