Young seaman tries to cope with death of a friend.
A young sailor called Luuk van Oirschot hears that his best friend and counterpart has died from an overdose of heroin. He comes to grips with his grief by, during a trip on an oil tanker, night after night, watching the 8mm films of his friend that he made as an amateur filmmaker in bygone days. The films depict the process of gradual mental alienation between the two friends and the failure of an adolescent affair, which prompted Luuk to sign on as a sea-faring sailor.
