A young Iranian refugee tries to survive as an illegal alien in Amsterdam while a film crew captures everything. This feature debut is a mix of documentary and fiction based on true events.
After her request for asylum has been rejected, Roya, a young refugee from Iran, gives a camera crew permission to film her. She chooses to live as an illegal alien in the streets of Amsterdam. The film crew tries to follow her without intervening, but this gets harder when Roya ends up in threatening situations. For this feature debut, based on true facts, Farshad Aria picked an unusual form: A film-in-a-film, shot in an improvised documentary style, mixing real events with fiction.
