Editor and filmmaker Core van der Hoeven tells about living with non-congenital brain damage from personal experience, as a cerebral abscess left him with chronic brain damage.


Editor and filmmaker Core van der Hoeven - known for his joint projects with artist Erik van Lieshout - had surgery in 2009 due to an abscess in his head. This left him with chronic brain damage. In 2010, he made the short film Ziek about his abscess, the surgery and the speech therapy he took. This time, he looks at the long-term effects. The film is a story, told from his perspective, about living with non-congenital brain damage and his attempt to come to grips with his new reality.
