Melodrama based on the trilogy by Piet Bakker from 1929. A little brat beyond educating is repeatedly treated unjustly by school, social workers, but above all by his selfish mother. A fatal event finally lands him up in a reform school. This Germany-Dutch co-production won a Silver Lion at Venice in 1955, even before its Dutch première.
