Youth film based on the opera Carmen.
Comic film with song and dance largely set in a box. The story is loosely based on the opera Carmen; the characters and the melodies of Bizet have been left unchanged, but the plot is different. José, the protagonist, describes after his death to child-like angels how he moved as a simple peasant from the hills around Seville down to the valley to become a soldier. There he fell in love with Carmen, the prettiest girl in the tobacco factory. But Carmen was unfaithful to him. Sick with despair, he went astray with disastrous consequences. Carmen en ik (Me and Carmen) is set in an imaginary world that was created in the computer.
