A search for Boudewijn Büch’s real story, on the basis of diaries, letters and photographs from his private archive. Why did he use his stories to guard himself against real life?

After his decease, writer and TV personality Boudewijn Büch was labelled a fraud. This film is a search for the real story. Büch’s biographer Eva Rovers talks about his diaries, letters and photographs. From these very personal sources, the image arises of an oversensitive boy, who matures into a vulnerable man who uses his stories to guard himself against real life. In the process, he obviously derails and real life strikes back. For Büch, suffering, isolation and loneliness become part and parcel of his fate as an author.
