After World War II, the Dutch government tried to encourage the mechanisation of agriculture using funds from the Marshall Plan. While farmer Jansen think he is quite capable of farming with horses, like his forefathers, farmer Pieterse argues in favour of jointly purchasing tractors and other agricultural machinery.
