A charismatic fisherman and mother-of-pearl poacher. A mourning mother whose son perished at sea. A love destroyed by crystal meth. Documentary maker Heinrich Dahms documents the torn lives in a South African fishing community from up close - from round-ups at sea to intimate moments in people’s homes. The question is who is threatened most: the illegally harvested sea slug that is considered a delicatessen and aphrodisiac in China or this community, which is afflicted by poverty, drug abuse and police violence.
