Late 2016, a Dutch collector of ship’s waste is put on trial. The company is charged with illegally shipping millions of litres of toxic sewage from Angola to the Netherlands. On paper, the poisonous substance was tidily processed, but according to the criminal file the waste processors were not really able to explain how. Dumped into the Amsterdam IJ, perhaps?
