Atavism means characteristics of ancestors that seem to have been lost over the generations. In Atavar, this fact is personified by Genji, a Japanese dancer who performs a new dance in Amsterdam as a wolf. When he comes into conflict with his audience and friends, and is also rejected by a girl, the wolf in him is awoken.
