For several months filmmaker John Appel followed the Amsterdam singer of romantic songs André Hazes, as father, husband and singer.
With his incomparably genuine sob, André Hazes has for twenty years been one of the favourite singers of Amsterdam romantic songs. He was the first Dutch artist to fill the Ahoy Theatre in Rotterdam with his tearjerkers filled with unrequited love and emotional pain. For several months the filmmaker John Appel followed the Amsterdammer as father, husband and singer. The film provides a picture of his lonely but stressful life as a singer and shows a pretty insecure Hazes at work in the studio, at show and consulting with his managers. A show in a Spanish bullring in Benidorm should be a highpoint, but the turn-out is abismal. Hazes discharges his obvious tension in emotional outbursts, that also affect his private life. In his house by the Vinkeveen Lakes, Hazes' third marriage is in danger of breaking down.
