Flemish-British co-production set in the Middle Ages. A young woman becomes so obsessed with the Holy Virgin that she allows herself to be bricked into the church wall. She gives advice to pilgrims and local people. Not always with the blessing of the church authorities. The sets by Niek Kortekaas in which the film was shot were placed in one of the few open landscapes left in Belgium.
