Speelfilmdebuut van regisseur Otakar Votocek. Een jonge schrijver schiet bij de opening van een internationaal filmfestival de charismatische filmster Valentine dood en komt kort daarna zelf ook om het leven. Samen belanden zij na hun dood in een groot luxueus hotel waarin nog meer gestorven beroemdheden huizen. Daar zet zich de obsessie voor de filmster voort in een kat-en-muisspel.
