Een fotografe moet in het Oostends Museum een restauratieproject vastleggen. Bij toeval ontdekt ze vijf schilderijen van Constant Permeke. Ze raakt gegrepen door zijn werk en gaat op zoek naar de kunstenaar, de plaatsen waar hij woonde, zijn werk en zijn leven.
