Tropengraf, een West-Indische overlevering

On 27 August 1913, on an ostrich farm in a rural area on the island of Curaçao, the white assistant of a Dutch farmer is found dead. There are rumours that money, adultery and jealousy are involved. But lack of evidence means the case is closed and in the meantime all the possible witnesses have died. Using authentic picture and sound material, the documentary investigates the unsolved murder without wanting to name a culprit in retrospect. The film also provides a picture of the relationships between white plantation owners, Dutch authorities and the black population in the outer districts at the turn of the century.
