O amor natural
Filmmaker Heddy Honigmann was inspired to make O amor natural by the erotic poetry of the Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902-1987). During his life, Drummond was regarded as one of the most important Latin American poets of the century, yet O amor natural was only published after his death. At first because the poet thought the poems would shock, later because he thought they would only be regarded as pornography. In Honigmann's film several aged Brazilians recite fragments from Drummond's verses. They react with great tenderness to Drummond's open-hearted descriptions and reminisce about their own sexual adventures.
