Children still let themselves be amazed and enthralled by the world. According to filmmaker Annette Otto, this has to do with watching without context. She evokes a similar fascination by means of a succession of short observations, shot in close-up, of fairground visitors. Thinking nobody is watching them, they surrender to the moment. Bliss and expectation are visible, but also disappointment, tedium and melancholia.
