Josef Roth's Grosse-Welt-Bioskop-Theater

Documentary about the life and work of the Austrian writer and journalist Joseph Roth (1894-1939). Roth is one of Europe's most important chroniclers of the interbellum; a writer who saw in everyday events the true nature of greater things. Joseph Roth, anti-fascist, emigrant and wanderer, wrote ten novels as well as one hundred reports. The documentary takes the viewer to Roth's stopping places in Europe. Tableaux from his era come to life in a Bioskop-theater taken from one of his stories. Scenes are also performed from a screenplay written by Roth, one Hollywood was never willing to realise.
