Documentary about the work of the French healer Emile Coué, who achieved world renown in the 1920s with his 'Méthode Coué', an alternative method to be cured physically by stimulating the subconscience. This is achieved by positive thinking as a result of repeatedly uttering positive words. Verhoeff and Wenneks undertake a search for the past and living remainders of 'Coué-ism' in France, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
