A small town with a small-town mentality in the fifties. There is commotion when the voyeur Le Roy sets up an affair between a teacher and her pupil with the help of hypocrisy and gossip. The teacher rents a room in Le Roy's mother's house and gives the boy extra tuition in her room. At first he uses the teacher and her pupil to satisfy his sexual fantasies. But as time passes, he starts to regard his objects more and more as friends. De ziener is based on the novel by Vestdijk from 1959. Filmmaker Gerrit van Elst started writing the script in 1989.
