De zee die denkt (The Sea that Thinks)
Experimental feature about expectations of people watching a film and the optical illusions they create in their heads. Particularly by means of images, De zee die denkt demonstrates that nothing is what it seems. A man, known as the singer Rick de Leeuw, seems to wake up in a normal room, and in street interviews passers-by are asked the catch question 'what are you'? Central element is a scriptwriter writing the scenario for De zee die denkt. He types what he does and does what he types. Searching for the answer to the question 'how do we become happy', he uses miraculous examples to show that our world only exists in our conscience. Little by little, the spectator becomes aware of his own expectations and appears not to watch a film, but himself.
