De grote stad (The Big City)
The fact that to the eyes of provincial newcomers the big city is a cesspool of vice is elaborated in an unexpectedly absurdist way in this wry farce. Behind the brown veneer of his humble room, a diffident student discovers a den of whores. They come out at night. They scuffle like mice and whisper obscene words. But the student can't bring himself to set a trap. Instead, he purchases an appropriate pet.
